Don’t you just hate exercise and dread showing up to your workout? Did you therefore hire a trainer to alleviate the pain of showing up so that the trainer can be your sounding board? Well, this needs to shift and shift now! I find it very interesting how people focus on their disinterest in the gym when in reality the workout always makes you feel so much better. When you exercise, you release endorphins and when you release endorphins, you get to be in a happy state. I love being happy. In addition, you kick up your metabolism and even improve hormone production. Let’s top that off with the fact that your body becomes a metabolic fat burning machine if the intensity is right. Gosh, we can go on and on. WebMD.com states that the following benefits come from exercise: 1) it reduces stress 2) it wards off both depression and anxiety 3) it boosts your self esteem 4) it improves sleep and the list goes on…. So, let’s rewind for a moment….Don’t you just hate the action that causes you to be great? Don’t you just hate feeling great and having awesome levels of energy? Don’t you just hate having a fabulous sex life and being flexible after sitting for all day long? No, you don’t! You love all of this. So, I need for you to do this: Next time you feel hatred exercise, stop for a moment and ask yourself, well, if I HATE exercise so much, then why am I forcing myself to do it? Ask yourself, if I choose to walk away from the action of physical activity which you know will bring you fabulous physiological and physical benefits, will I be ok with living in a body that just doesn’t perform for me? Would I be ok living in the skin of a person who gets tired every day, feels like my feet are dragging through molasses with every step I take, or possessing a body that has aches and pains? This is certainly not a vehicle that I would ever want to drive in. When we hate exercising, we automatically convince ourselves that exercise is wrong for us. Exercise becomes punishment. Exercise becomes a chore. It’s torture. Do we need this in our lives? NEVER! It is therefore truly up to you to self talk your way through this necessary attitude change towards exercise. Repeat the questions above and verbally re-establish a new breath of love since the benefits of exercise far exceed your hate towards it. When something is this awesome, you miss out on a great life in not loving it!

My fiancé says that I need to exercise before eating is that true??
You don’t need to exercise before eating. But, I suggest a light meal before you train to keep your blood sugars regulated and to ensure optimal performance. Give yourself a minimum of 1 and 1/2 hours to digest your food before working out. A protein shake is always a great solution. Don’t eat anything that is too heavy otherwise your gut won’t be able to digest the food you consume while you’re perform jarring movements during exercise! Drink plenty of water! And of course, follow a great nutritional plan every day for optimal health and wellness! It’s time to be great! xo JZ
Exercise is a dull painful and slow process. I can just about tolerate walking the dog but that’s about the limit and is only tolerated, as for an endorphin kick that just doesn’t happen for me.
Steven, you must read my book, Breaking the Chains of Obesity, 107 Tools. It appears to me that you are very de-conditioned and just need to work your way into an exercise program that is conducive to your fitness levels. There are many different types of exercise programs, so finding the right one for you means hooking up with a fitness expert (who knows what they’re talking about), testing out using the fitness tests that I mention in my book, and acclimating to the right plan. You can do it! Keep walking your dog, and never quit on the opportunities that lie ahead of your fitness journey! xo JZ
It seems to me that every fitness expert I’ve ever come into contact with has wanted me to try whatever the latest craze programme is. I don’t understand where this endorphin kick is meant to come from though because one things for sure all exercise brings me is pain. I do like the blog though.
Steven,
Where do you live and what gym do you go to? I will find an excellent trainer in your area for you. There are AMAZING trainers out there who do not do the things you mention. If you have the funds and the ambition, I will make sure you are taken care of. You may private message me too with this information! To a fit you! xo JZ
I live in Liverpool in sunny Britain and tend to go to the Lifestyles gyms which are the Council run ones. I really do need to find a better one but its the motivation to go and keep going, you know?
Oh wow! Well, there are plenty of trainers there, but you hit the nail on the head-You, yourself, must be motivated. So, I ask you this? What tool(s) do you need right in this moment to enhance motivation for yourself? What is holding you back? Be sure to own a copy of Breaking the Chains of Obesity, 107 Tools. It is an excellent work book to help you work through these types of questions. It is available on my website and on Amazon.com. You deserve to be fit! Don’t allow your mental resistance to hold you back any longer…Change is powerful stuff! I may be your catalyst!
Have an amazing day! To health! JZ
